Welcome to AusTex_AughtNine, another Casa Dexter line.A quick note on the name:Yeah you bet I’m from Texas, but more specifically Austin, Texas (and even more specifically, South Austin Texas, but we’ll get into that later), hence AusTex .The AughtNine bit’s a tip of the hat to the days of old, echoing James McMurtry’s excellent album Live in Aught Three, as well as a commitment to keep it current here on the blog.This here New Blog (one of how many million new blogs today?) will offer a running ramble of randomly rendered thoughts and half-thoughts and endless ideas, baked, half-baked and completely unbaked.So why blog? Or more to the point, why blog now? As Kilgore Trout’s epic novel taught us, the answer to the Cosmic Question of Why? Is Why not?Why not blog?It’s easy, it’s fun, it’s an outlet for these things that flit through my mind throughout the day (Don’t get me started on the Night!) It’s just another way of making sense by telling stories. Mixed in here undoubtedly, you’ll hear my take on various events of Aught Nine, places and people in Austin, music, live and recorded that catches my ear, movies that stick in my eye and TV that gums up my brain. Since I also post videos regularly on YouTube as the CasaDexter channel, we’ll take a look around behind the scenes inside the Casa sometime.Of course, I’ll be more than happy to respond to your suggestions as well, so let me know what you’d like to read about when you wander this way every so often.
